Measuring the borders of my life
I count a war at every end.
My infancy in the year of infamy,
When flames had burned:
Poland
Norway
Czechoslovakia
Greece
And France.
A child born to bursting bombs and Tojo.
A war bordering my birth.
And now many year dates later, a war
Bordering my present adulthood.
My moments ticked in hand grenade seconds.
My minutes boomed by dropping bombs.
Boundaries between the world and I.
God curse the bloody borders of my life,
While I join men continuing their crimes.
Call it something like a war.
